Transfer students

Enrollment Pathway

You accept admission to Rutgers-Camden by confirming your attendance (and sending in a deposit). The easiest way to accept your admission and pay the $125 nonrefundable acceptance fee is to do so online through your Rutgers status screen. You may also submit your payment along with your admissions acknowledgement form included in your packet.  Once you have confirmed that you will be attending Rutgers University-Camden, you must submit ALL college transcripts (and AP scores if applicable) for transfer credits. You will receive notice from the Office of the Registrar (856-225-6053) that you have been awarded credit for the courses for which official transcripts or score reports were submitted as well as the Rutgers-Camden equivalency for the course(s).  This notice will come via email to the email that you have registered with the office of admissions. It will also be mailed to the address you have listed with admissions. The email will contain instructions on next steps to take, and whether or not placement testing will be required.

Placement Testing

You can find out more information about the placement test, and sign up for the test through Enrollment Services (856-225-6104).

There are three placement tests offered on each test date.  There is a math placement test, which is required for any transfer student who has not transferred in a college level math course (statistics is not considered a math course).  There is an English placement test, which is required for all transfer students who have not transferred in a college level English course (except for students who have a score of 500 or greater on the verbal/critical reading section of the SAT exam). There is also a Foreign Language (Spanish, French and German) placement test which is required for students majoring in Arts and Sciences and planning to continue in the language that they studied in high school.

NOTE: The Elementary II level or higher of a spoken foreign language is a graduation requirement for all Arts & Sciences majors at Rutgers-Camden - therefore it is recommended that all students who studied a foreign language in high school take this exam in order to continue in their language right away.

Registration and Advising

Once your placement testing has been completed (if required), transfers may then register for classes. Depending on the students, this can take place in two different ways.  There are a series of group registrations for new transfer students in which students can meet with faculty members from their proposed major to select their classes.  If a new transfer student is unable to attend a group registration, he or she may sign up for an individual appointment with a dean in the Office of Academic Advising to select their classes.  See the helpful links for more information on advising, degree requirements and schedules.
