SENIOR REVIEW College of Arts and Sciences/University College –
In August seniors were sent information on reviewing their General and Major Requirements through Degree Navigator. All seniors must meet with their faculty advisors in September or October to ensure that their major requirements are satisfied and plan their final semesters. Honors College – Honors College Seniors should meet with Senior Program Coordinator Robert Emmons two months prior to graduation to certify that they have satisfied their Honors College requirements. Students can download and complete the Honors College Senior Review Checklist before visiting the office from the Honors Form repository.
APPLYING FOR GRADUATION
To be considered for graduation, CCAS/UC seniors must submit online diploma application through the Registrar’s Office. Check your class year, major(s), and minor(s) for accuracy. If they need to be changed contact the Registrar's Office. The Office of Academic Advising deans (Armitage Hall, second floor) oversee the final certification process. With your major department they will review your general and major requirements, in most cases using Degree Navigator. The Office of Academic Advising will notify you by email of your application status. A list of prospective May 2010 graduates will be posted in the Office for Academic Advising in March 2010.Application periods are:
September 1 – October 15 for a January dated degree
February 1- March 5 for a May/June dated degree
June 1 - August 15 for an October dated degree
FINAL GRADUATION CERTIFICATION
The Board of Governors of the university confers degrees in May, upon the recommendation of the Camden faculty. To graduate, you must (2006-8 catalog p.8):
- Earn a minimum of 30 of the final 42 credits as a regularly enrolled undergraduate at Rutgers Camden including 12 credits in the major.
- Complete at least 120 credits with a cumulative average of 2.0 or better.
- Fulfill all general requirements of the college.
- Fulfill the specific requirements of a major program.
- Discharge all academic, disciplinary, and financial obligations to the university
MINORS
Minors must be indicated on the online diploma application. Contact the Registrar’s Office to have minors noted correctly on your academic record. Your minor department will approve the minor.WHAT HAPPENS IF DEGREE REQUIREMENTS ARE NOT MET?
Individuals who have not met their requirements for graduation will be notified. If a problem is discovered during the final certification process, notification will be made by certified mail or email. Students who are ineligible to graduate based on their grades in Spring 2010 courses will be notified by phone or email.ONLY STUDENTS WHO HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED ALL GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS MAY PARTICIPATE IN THE COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY.
GRADUATION WITH HONORS:
Students may graduate with honors if they complete at least 45 credits at Rutgers University as a matriculated student and earn cumulative grade point averages of:Cum Laude– 3.50, Magna Cum Laude - 3.75, Summa Cum Laude - 3.90. Honors classifications are determined at the end of the student’s last semester. These averages are precise; rounding up is not done. Honors graduates may purchase red cords from the Bookstore to wear at Commencement. Honors designations are noted on the diploma, the transcript and the Commencement Program.
OCTOBER 2009 and JANUARY 2010 GRADUATES
All graduates receive a letter and official transcript confirming their degree during the month in which they graduate. They are encouraged to attend Commencement in May where diplomas will be awarded. Graduates who will not be attending Commencement may request the Registrar to mail their diplomas by completing an In Absentia form available here.JOBS OR GRADUATE SCHOOL

BOOKSTORE
The University District Bookstore will sponsor a Graduation Fair in early March. The 2009 fee for graduation attire was: Bachelor - $57.00; Master - $64.00. This includes cap, gown, hood and tassel; the BA hood is white and the BS is gold. This is not rental attire – it is yours to keep. Any purchase after March 31 may incur a $10.00 late fee. Red Honors cords ($12.00) and gold Honors College sashes ($20.00) may be purchased the week of Commencement.FINANCIAL AID
Students who received a Federal Loan while at Rutgers, are required to complete an Exit Interview. This can be completed on-line at www.studentaid.rutgers.edu . Failure to complete this requirement will result in a financial hold placed on the transcript. To obtain a complete listing of all Federal loans received at Rutgers and any other school, visit www.nslds.ed.govHONORS CONVOCATION
Outstanding students will be recognized for departmental and college-wide honors as well as certain scholarships. Students being honored will be notified in April. The convocation will be held in May 2010.HONOR SOCIETIES
Selection of qualified students for all honors societies is made based on their standing in February of the relevant academic year.
Athenaeum – College and Arts and Sciences
The members of Athenaeum are elected from among the best scholars in the upper classes. Membership is limited to seniors who have earned at least 60 credits at the college with a cumulative grade-point average of no less than 3.5 and juniors who have earned at least 80 credits at the college with a cumulative grade-point average of no less than 3.7. Transfer students who will have at least 60 Rutgers credits by graduation may be considered for membership in their senior year if, at the beginning of the spring semester of that year, they have earned 54 or more credits at Rutgers.
Alpha Sigma Lambda – University College
Open by invitation to students who have earned 75 credits, including a minimum of 45 credits at Rutgers-Camden. Students must have a 3.5 or better cumulative grade-point average. There is a fee to join this national honor society.
Phi Beta Kappa – College of Arts and Sciences and University College
To be considered for Phi Beta Kappa, students must have:
• a liberal arts major
• grade-point averages of 3.5 for seniors and 3.8 for juniors
• 1 year of foreign language study at or above the Intermediate level
• 60 credits at Rutgers. Transfer students may be nominated in their senior year, if at the end of the fall semester of that year, they have earned 54 or more credits at Rutgers.
